How to manage caption request tags  

Watch the brief tutorial to understand the process of managing caption requests through the EchoVideo tagging system. Refer back to the video tutorial as needed.

Written instructions

The following step-by-step process is the same as outlined in the video tutorial above. Review the written instructions and refer back to them as needed. 

Open EchoVideo. 

  1. Select the Captures tab

  2. Under Date, select All time

  3. Type "caption request" into the search bar 

  4. Select the oldest video that has not yet been added to the captioning board.  

 

You are now on one video's details page. 

  1. Briefly skim the video to identify:

    • Names of speakers

    • If the video should later be tagged on the transcription board as academic content, faculty requested and/or a tutorial video 

  2. Select the Publishing tab 

  3. Select the Collections tab

  4. Scroll down and click on the Share with dropdown menu 

  5. Select LDM Student DA & QA Assistant Team 

 

Navigate to the URL at the top of the webpage.

  1. Locate the question mark (?) within the URL
  2. Highlight the URL up until the question mark. DO NOT include the question mark or anything after it

  3. Copy the shortened URL

 

Open the Transcription Board.

  1. Under the Requests through EchoVideo bucket, click on Add task 

  2. Name the task according to the following template: [Video Title] [# of videos] - [# of minutes]

  3. Click on the task to open the task

  4. Add the tag EchoVideo Tag Request along with any other relevant tags 

  5. Paste the shortened URL as a Checklist item  

  6. In the Notes section, add the following and fill in the bracketed template text:

    • Speaker name: [Insert speaker name(s)]

    • Directions:

      • Follow the Guide for EchoVideo Transcription in our MS Teams space.

      • Apply edited transcript to Closed Captions

      • Re-assign to the task assigner, [your name], when complete

  7. Under the Due date, select a date 10 business days from the day you input the task

  8. Click Assign and select a student to complete the task
