1. Consult with your Education Coordinator
If you are an instructor in the P1, P2 or P3 didactic courses, reach out to your Education Coordinator to confirm your captioning needs. This may include live lectures, prerecorded lectures, as well as videos from third-party platforms (e.g., Youtube).
2. Tag your recording (non-didactic PharmD, undergraduate, or graduate instructors)
Tagging your recording is a simple and easy way to alert our captioning team directly to the video in need. You are able to tag your video before or after it is recorded.
Before you record
1. If you are using the EchoVideo Universal Capture (NOT Browser Capture), click on the "Edit" icon at the top of your Universal Capture window.

2. Type in "caption request" in the Tags field.

3. Click on the blue "Save" button and record your video as normal.
After you record
1. Locate and select your video from your EchoVideo library. Click on the "Edit Details" tab.

2. Type in "caption request" in the Tags field.

3. Click on the pink "Save" button.
NOTE: When our team enters your video into our captioning queue, the tag text will automatically change to "cr complete." This indicates that your video is in the captioning queue but does not mean that your video is already captioned. Videos take up to 10 business days to be manually reviewed and captioned.
3. Request captioning on third-party videos
Most videos on YouTube and other external video hosting platforms contain machine (auto-generated) captions which do not meet Ohio State's standards for captioning. We are unable to rely on the accuracy of auto-generated captions. You may think that your video is properly captioned, however, be sure to check the video's settings.

If you see "auto-generated" captions displayed, then you will need to submit the video to our internal captioning team for a formal review, edit and application of professional captions.
To request captions for a third-party video, submit a General Accessibility Support ticket. Under the accessibility issue category dropdown menu, select "Captioning request for a third-party video (e.g., YouTube)."

Then, fill in the remainder of the form with the requested information and click the red "Submit" button.
NOTE: Due to copyright restrictions, the professional captions will not be able to be embedded directly onto the third-party video. You will be provided with a link of the captioned version of the video to be placed below the original video.
