Bruker TopSpin - How to Request a License

As of August 2025, the following process must be run once on a computer after TopSpin is installed. The same process applies to both university-owned and personally-owned computers. Access the TopSpin download site if installing on your personal computer.

1. Navigate to the Bruker account registration page.
2. Create an account using your @osu.edu or @buckeyemail.osu.edu email address.
3. Navigate to the TopSpin academia license page and login using the account created in the previous step.
4. Click the Request Academia License button.
5. Copy the ticket code that appears under the button. It will appear as a long string of letters and numbers.
6. Navigate to the CodeMeter License Central site.
7. Paste the ticket code from Step 5 into the box and click Next.
8. Click Activate Licenses.
9. Select I want my licenses offline on one computer.
10. On the next screen, select Activate Selected Licenses Now.
11. A new Online License Transfer window will appear. Wait for the license transfer to complete. Once the license transfer is finished, click OK.
12. The final window will show your ticket number, activation date, and CmContainer ID. Check that the status is "Activated" and then close the webpage.
13. TopSpin is now functional, with or without an internet connection. The license will expire after three years, at which time the process must be repeated.
