SUMMARY
How to use the audio-visual technology in the RF 240 classroom
The Riffe 240 classroom is equipped with multiple large displays around the room, an advanced auto-tracking pan-tilt-zoom camera system, ceiling microphone and speakers, a Crestron AirMedia wireless presentation system, a PC with touch screen display, and an HDMI connection for a laptop or tablet. A Crestron touch panel controls the audio-visual components.
1. Start the System
On the Crestron panel, tap anywhere on the screen. The displays will power on.
2. Present
Input Selection
Choose from the following options:
- Laptop (HDMI cable)
- An HDMI cable is available on the podium. Keep in mind that using a laptop connection will not allow for the room cameras to be used, as they are only connected to the PC. The ceiling microphones will be available for voice amplification, but not for sending audio into the laptop.
- PC (recommended)
- Airmedia
- The Crestron Airmedia system can be used to wirelessly present video and audio from a laptop or tablet. Keep in mind that the room's camera system will not integrate with the wireless presentation system since it is only connected to the podium PC. The ceiling microphones will be available for voice amplification, but the wireless device's microphone must be used when running Zoom or Echo360 on the wireless device. Display Power
Toggle the displays on/off without shutting down the room system if needed.
Speaker Volume
The Speaker Volume at the bottom of the main screen will control the level of audio coming from the ceiling speakers. The Speaker Mute icon to the right will mute the speakers.
3. Camera Control
The classroom contains six pan-tilt-zoom cameras with an advanced auto-tracking system. Auto-tracking is enabled by default on system start-up. When auto-tracking is enabled, the system will use the room's microphone system to automatically switch among the cameras to show the active speaker.
To disable auto-tracking, tap the Auto button. Then, choose from the six cameras in the Camera Select menu to see a preview to the right. Overlaid on the preview window are pan-tilt-zoom controls.
To return to auto-tracking mode, tap the Off button.
4. Audio
The classroom contains an advanced ceiling microphone system to send audio to the podium PC (for Zoom, Echo360) as well as to amplify the active speaker's voice. The volume is automatically set. Voice amplification can be muted by tapping the icon below Mic Reinforcement. Audio into the podium PC can be muted by tapping the icon below Ceiling Mic Mute. Both are unmuted on system start-up.
The Audio Meters are a visual status indicator of where audio is being detected by the room system.
- PC Input - audio from the PC is being sent into the system
- Pc Out - audio from the microphones system is being sent to the PC
- Laptop - audio from the HDMI connection is being sent into the system
- Air Media - audio from the Airmedia system is being sent into the system
5. Shutdown
When finished, tap the Shutdown in the lower right corner, then choose Power Off to shut down the system. The displays will power off.
