Captions in Zoom 

Zoom has some third party captioning/tool options.  This article DOES NOT cover these third party software options. This articles covers typing in live captions like CART CAPTIONING that stands for Communication Access Realtime Translation, that OSU supports.

Before the Session 

  • All arrangements for captioning services should be made prior to the Zoom session that requires the captioning. 
  • Please connect with:
  • A test to try and practice the Captioning service is highly recommended, but not essential. 

How to Assign a Participant to Caption

Within a Zoom session/meeting, where you are the host:

  1. Click on CAPTIONS once the meeting has started
  2. Click on Assign a Participant to Type
  3. Click on the name of the person from the list that populates

Other Notes

Captions can't be assigned to a user on a mobile device (iPad/Phone). 
Font size of the captions can only be changed in your local Zoom settings in Accessibility. No Color options are available.
