How do I add a network printer to my computer (Windows)?

This procedure will work on on-campus ASC Windows workstations and laptops that are plugged (via Ethernet) into the ASC network. The instructions are the same for Windows 7 as they are for Windows 10, but the following screenshots give an example on Windows 10.

1. Click on the Start Button in the bottom left corner of your screen.

2. In the search bar, type \\webprint. Then hit Enter.

3. In the window that opens, there will be a list of printers that go by the naming convention XX###-PrinterModel.
     a. XX is the two-letter building code (i.e.: DB=Derby, UH=University).
     b. ### is the room number where the printer is located. This can be any number of digits, not just the three digits this example indicates.
     c. To further explain naming conventions, printers will be named like DB2040-Xerox7545 or UH586-CanonWC5185.

3. Browse for your printer in the window. Double click on the printer you would like to install.

The installation process may take a few minutes but will eventually install the printer to your computer. This will only install the printer for your user account. Any other users who may log into the same workstation will have to perform these same steps for themselves.
